Gina Rodriguez credits ‘Jane the Virgin’ for many things, including the love of her life. She recently got engaged to Joe LoCicero, who she met when he guest-starred on the show in 2016. (Aug. 7)
Gina Rodriquez is showing off her engagement ring. And it is a beaut.
The “Jane the Virgin” star confirmed this week she is engaged to marry Joe LoCicero, who she met when he guest-starred in a 2016 episode of the show. He played a stripper.
On Thursday, Rodriquez displayed the ring while sending a birthday wish to her fiance on Instagram. Rodriquez, who is not shown in the picture, has her hand in LoCicero’s, as he beams into the camera.
“Happy Birthday to my King. ❤️” she wrote.
During an interview with the Associated Press on Tuesday, Rodriguez, 34, confirmed the engagement.
“I never was the girl that dreamt about my wedding,” she said.
Rodriguez acknowledged the gift of her life partner coming from her career-making CW show.
“I did always pray that I would meet a really cool partner, whether it was going to be male or female, that I was going to have somebody that was going to uplift me and support me and want me to shine and not want to take away from that, but want to shine as well in their own right,” she told AP. “And I found it in Joe, and I found it on the set of ‘Jane.'”
After LoCicero appeared on the CW show, the couple revealed their romance with pictures from their Thailand vacation over Christmas 2016. They have continued to coo at each other on social media.
Rodriquez posted a heavy smooch photo on Twitter last month.
Rumors circulated of an engagement around Rodriquez’s July 30 birthday in Mexico’s Hotel Casa Malca. LoCicero posted a picture on Instagram of Rodriguez smiling on a beach with the ring seen on her left hand.
Rodriguez didn’t give too much on the engagement after confirming it. No dates or wedding plans were discussed.
“I don’t even really want to say it’s happening,” she told People.com. “I just want to live! I think there’s a huge blessing in the fact that people care. That’s a beautiful thing, so that feels really good. But another part of me wants to keep a little something that’s just mine, ’cause there’s not too many things I have like that anymore.”
Rodriguez returned to work on “Jane the Virgin” this week. She’ll direct the first episode of the upcoming fifth and final season.
